Hello everyone, Vale here...
After a great deal of thought &
consideration over this past week,
I have decided to suspend the weekly
Art Journal Gypsy exercises for the time
being. I've had to get my priorities in
order. I am keeping this blog up though, in
hopes of getting back to the weekly exercises
sometime in the future. In the meantime, for all
of you who have played along with me, I wish
to thank you & let you know how much I have
enjoyed and appreciated your company thus
far! I hope that we can play together
again some day. With the warmest of
hugs & best wishes from Vale :)

'Afternoon gypsies, & welcome to 2009!

This coming week we are going to be picking
some things from each of the lists below. We
first used these lists in WEEK 16. So, if you
already created a spread that week, pick
something different from each of the categories
for your first spread of the year.
Here are the lists:

A: PICK ONE OF THE FOLLOWING THEMES:
1) weather
2) Gothic
3) heart
4) medieval

B: PICK TWO OR THREE OF THE FOLLOWING COLOURS:
1) blue
2) brown
3) gray
4) red
5) metallic
6) green
7) black
8) white
9) yellow
10) pink
11) cyan
12) purple/violet
13) cream/beige
14) orange/rust

C: PICK ONE OF THE FOLLOWING FOR A BACKGROUND:
1) painted, colour-washed, and/or color-misted
2) torn up text pages from an old book
3) torn up scrapbooking papers
4) tape, with any of the above

D: PICK ONE OF THE FOLLOWING:
1) images
2) doodles
3) words, quotes or phrases
4) a combination of any of the above

Now that you have chosen things from each of
the four categories, create your spread for this
week using them all!
I am looking forward to seeing what everyone
creates for their first spread of the new year!
Above is a photo of my first spread for 2009.
From category "A" I picked "weather" for my
theme. From be I picked the colours blue, white
& beige. From category "C" I used scrapbooking
papers, and from "D" I went with the combination
of words and images.

Have fun creating! With warm hugs, & a happy,
healthy, safe & prosperous 2009 from Vale :)

WEEK 17: The Holiday Season + Winter Solstice....

Hello everyone! The holiday season is creeping up on us fast, and winter is on our doorstep! We are already into the month of December, and most likely, we are starting to get busy for the holidays. Therefore, this week will be our final week for exercises in our art gypsy journals for 2008. But, we will dive right back into our journals shortly after New Year's Day!

So, let's get into the holiday spirit and create a holiday spread! And, since it'll be a whole month before we work on next exercises in our journals, and if you have time, why not create a second spread celebrating the winter solstice? It is up to you whether you create one, or the other, or both spreads!

Other than the two themes: 'The Holiday Season' and 'Winter Solstice', I am leaving it up to you to decide on what techniques and materials to use. In the meantime, I will be posting on the blog, adding photos of my spreads for both of these themes, and keeping you updated as to what date our first exercise will be for 2009. I shall post again soon, but until then, warm hugs! Vale :D

'Evening everybody!
For week 16 I decided to use the word 'heart'
for my theme. The colours I picked to work with
were brown, red and metallic. For my background
I went with #4: tape, with any combo of #s 1, 2 & 3.
Finally, I decided to use individual words from the
fourth category. Above it the spread I came up
with. I hope that all is well with everyone!
With warm hugs from Vale :)

WEEK 16: Part 2:

'Afternoon everyone!
Now that you have chosen things from
each of the four categories, create your
spread for this week using them all!
That's it! I am looking forward to
seeing how each of our spreads differ
from each others. It should be very
interesting! Have fun creating!
With warm hugs from Vale :)
